When it comes to wardrobe essentials, a great pair of trousers are top of the list and pivotal to endless outfit combinations.

We all come in different shapes and sizes, but when searching for trousers, we want to tick the same boxes:

Comfortable ✓  Flattering ✓  Stylish ✓    

To help you, I’ve videoed me trying on everything, and such is my honesty, you’ll get to see which pairs suit me, along with those that don’t. I’m a size 10, so bear this in mind when I comment on the sizing and fit of each style…

EUROPEAN CULTURE DONNA STRETCH ANKLE GRAZERS, £141

I’m wearing a 27″ and they fit me perfectly, although they’re a bit snug.

 “Very flattering. Thick soft jersey knit and unbelievably comfortable. High waist. Flat front. Yep, I really like them!“

ATELIER RÊVE LESSI BIRCH CORDS, £120

I’m wearing a size small and I’m a size 10.

“A lovely colour and a beautiful texture. Quite a thick cord, but soft to wear. High-waisted but not really tight*, which I really like!”

*These trousers don’t have a traditional waist-band, which makes them more forgiving around the tummy.

FIVE JEANS LEIKA GREEN CORD TROUSERS, £145

I’m wearing a 27″ and they fit me perfectly.

“The cord is quite soft and slouchy and really comfortable on. If I get them, which I will, I’ll have to get them taken up, but will do it in such a way I can wear them with flats but also a little ankle boot.“

FIVE JEANS LUCIA BLUE JEANS, £136

I’m wearing a 27″ and they fit me, albeit slightly on the tight side.

“This is a thick, structured denim with only 1% elastane, so they really hold you in, but they’re quite unforgiving. Lots of customers in the shop have gone up a size. They’re cropped in length but I’m 5’4″ and they’re quite long. If you’re taller than me, they’re a great 3/4 length style.“

MAISON HOTEL PAULA GREEN TROUSERS, £115

I’m wearing a 27″ and but they’re very snug, so if in doubt, go up a size.

“These are more of a traditional jeans fit and they’ve quite a wide, slouchy leg. Fabulous petrol blue/green colour.“

CLEVERLY WRAPPED KHAKI CORD TWO POCKET JEANS, £109

These are our own brand and go from a 25″ to a 34″. I’m wearing a 27″ – the equivalent to a small 10 – and they fit perfectly.

“They’ve got 2% elastane which makes them super comfortable – they’ve got a lot of give, but also a lot of support.“

Ps. Customer feedback tells me these are the most flattering trousers on me and I think they’re right. They come in at the knee, which suits my leg shape, then widen at the hem. However, my colleague Justine has plump knees, so refuses to wear them!

MOLIIN AMBER BLUE CORDS, £117

These come up very small, so I’m in the medium which fit me perfectly. Everyone will need to go up a size.

“Chunky soft jumbo cords. These are already in my wardrobe. Enough said!”
