Introducing New Designer: Beshlie

It’s always exciting to discover a new designer through word of mouth and that’s exactly what happened with Beshlie. A friend of mine called Steph rang me to say that she had just discovered these great scarves that she was sure I would like. As she is an interior decorator and very stylishly dressed I took her at her word and made contact with the designer.

Beshlie Mckelvie is the designer’s name and she came to visit me at home with a baby strapped to her hip and the most wonderful array of cashmere scarves. Beshlie is young and bohemian and spends a lot of time travelling in pursuit of beautiful scarves and the finest cashmeres. The scarves are all made in far flung corners of the world. They are truly unique and as soon as I saw them I knew that Cleverly Wrapped needed to have lots of them.

So sitting with Beshlie and her baby in my office I then went on a major buying spree and purchased eight different scarves. The first is the Cashmere Herringbone scarf which I bought in 3 neutrals and 2 pop colours. It is a woven cashmere which is super soft with gently frayed contrast colour edges. It is also just the right length so you can wrap it once or knot it but not too wide which reduces bulk. It’s so easy to wear and I feel sure it will sell well as both a gift and as a present to self.

I then went onto purchase 3 of her hand block printed scarves which you can see above.

I love the gold and silver metallic detailing which is hand stamped on them. I’ve never seen that on a scarf before and I think it makes them really special. These scarves would make the most perfect present if you are looking for something really special and a little bit different

I hope you like Beshlie as much as I do. I haven’t got one myself yet as I can’t decide which one to get and eight would be a bit excessive – even for me!
