My Favourite Things To Do in Stockbridge

Today the shop in Stockbridge is one year old! I can hardly believe it.  It has been such a positive experience and I love everything about it.
Stockbridge is a great place to have a small independent business and I have really enjoyed getting to know it and working with the fantastic
team in the shop to create something really special.  If you are ever in the area Stockbridge is well worth a visit and in this blog I have put together a guide of my favourite places that I think would appeal to the Cleverly Wrapped customer.

Walk along the River Test

Any trip to Stockbridge should start with a walk along the banks of the Test.  Perfect for those of you with dogs. Easy to park (its free!) and great to take some exercise before unleashing yourselves on all the various eateries and shops. Next week I plan to do a long walk along the Test finishing up in Stockbridge so I will let you know all about the route I take. Here is a link to suggested walks in the area.

Thyme and Tides Deli

If you are hungry after your walk and fancy a coffee, brunch or a light lunch then this is the perfect place.  The deli and fish monger are incredible and there is a gorgeous open area out the back
for sunny days. By the way their homemade sourdough bread is first class. I buy a loaf every Friday for the weekend and the whole family devours it!

The Wykeham Gallery

Just up the road on the same side is this fantastic contemporary art gallery with a beautiful garden at the back full of ceramics and sculptures. The Gallery was founded in 1985 and exhibits pictures in all media. They do lots of events too so well worth signing up to their mailing list if you are an art lover.

Hero

Continuing on that side of the road you will find a great lifestyle boutique selling everything from clothes, jewellery, home wares and skincare products. A refreshingly different kind of shop that is definitely worth a visit.

Woodfire

Feeling hungry? This charming cafe and restaurant is on the opposite side of the road to everything above and worth crossing over for. I often use it when meeting girlfriends for lunch as the food is delicious and great value for money.

The Greyhound on the Test

If you fancy something more upmarket or you have a special occasion to celebrate then this gastro pub is the place to meet for lunch or supper. It’s on the same side of the road as Woodfire and also has some rooms. I am going there for lunch on Friday to celebrate the CW birthday with a great friend of mine who is also my business mentor and I want to say thank you.

The Grosvenor Hotel

There is great excitement in Stockbridge as this hotel is under new ownership and it is going to be refurbished throughout. Its right in the middle of town so perfectly located and I can’t wait to see all the improvements. I’ll be heading there the week after next to have a nose around!

George Clark

Pop back over the road and start heading towards Cleverly Wrapped. On the way you will pass this gorgeous interiors shop selling both contemporary and traditional homewares and affordably priced gifts. They also make the best curtains ever. I also love their lamp stands and shades.

Garden Inn

This shop is one of my favourites. Full of flowers, homewares, gifts and much much more. Great price points and often used by me when I need a little something to say thank you. Its also where I buy the most beautiful bouquets.

Davina Robins

Turn right out of Garden Inn and you will soon come to Cleverly Wrapped. We are nestled in-between Roxtons and Robinsons the butcher and access is by a side passage way. Come and meet the team and have a browse. You will be surprised to find a few shop only items that aren’t on the website and we also stock jewellery in the shop that is not on line. Shoppers treats!

Turn right out of Cleverly Wrapped and  tucked away just off the high street in a new development is a gem of a shop. Excuse the pun! Davina opened at the same time as CW. She stocks a few cool independent jewellery brands and will do  bespoke commissions of anything you like. A great place if you are looking for special birthday presents or having something made for an occasion.

Josie Eastwood Fine Art

Going a bit off piste now and this isn’t on the high street but if you fancy a little detour this stunning gallery is in a beautiful converted barn one mile outside Stockbridge in the village of Longstock. Their Spring Collection opens today (2nd May) so perfect timing for a visit.

Mottisfont National Trust

And last but not least a suggestion for you that can be combined with a trip to Stockbridge. So many people come into the shop at this time of year having been to see the roses in the walled garden at Mottisfont and everyone raves about them. It’s only fifteen minutes away by car and its free.

If you’ve read this far congratulations! Please do come and visit and I look forward to meeting you. I’m just on my way to a party shop to buy some helium balloons and take them to the shop to kick off our birthday celebrations. I’m looking forward to having a glass of champagne too!
